SnipTool does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. This policy describes all data practices in full.
All screenshot capture, image annotation, and image export occur exclusively on your device using Apple frameworks (ScreenCaptureKit, PencilKit, ImageIO). No data is ever sent to any server owned or operated by SnipTool or any third party.
Screenshots you capture are saved to your Mac's local file system — by default in your Downloads folder or a folder you choose via the Save dialog. SnipTool does not read, analyse, or transmit these files for any purpose other than displaying them in the annotation editor at your direct request.
Your chosen save folder is remembered across app launches using a security-scoped bookmark stored locally in macOS UserDefaults. This bookmark data never leaves your device.
Screen Recording
SnipTool requires Screen Recording permission to capture your screen. This permission is used only when you actively trigger a screenshot by pressing a keyboard shortcut or selecting a capture mode from the menu bar. SnipTool never monitors your screen in the background.
Accessibility
SnipTool requires Accessibility permission to register global keyboard shortcuts (⌘⇧1 for Rectangle Snip, ⌘⇧2 for Window Snip). SnipTool does not log, record, or transmit any keystrokes. The Accessibility permission is used solely to listen for these two specific shortcuts.
Both permissions are requested on first launch with plain-language explanations. You may revoke either permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
SnipTool contains no analytics SDK, crash reporting service, advertising framework, or any other third-party component that transmits data. NSPrivacyTracking is set to false in the app's privacy manifest.
SnipTool is a one-time purchase through the Mac App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. SnipTool never receives your payment information, name, or any details associated with your Apple ID.
SnipTool uses no third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks. The app is built exclusively with Apple's own frameworks.
SnipTool does not collect any data from any user, including children under 13.
This policy may be updated if future versions of SnipTool add features that affect data handling. The current version will always be available at sniptool.novaapp.dev/privacy. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
